How it works

1

Snap it

Take a photo of the damage — a leak, a hole, a drip, a dent — or describe the problem in plain words.

2

Get the diagnosis

The app names what's actually broken, how urgent it is, what it should cost, and whether it's a DIY job or a pro job.

3

Fix it — or hand it off

Follow the step-by-step guide with the tool list, or post the job to the WhatTheFix pro network and let a local pro claim it.

Two ways every job ends

Fix it yourself

Most common repairs — a running toilet, a clogged drain, a drywall hole — are cheaper and easier than they look. Every guide includes:

  • What is actually broken, in plain English
  • Numbered steps with the tricks that make them work
  • A tool list with links, and the materials to grab
  • Safety warnings and a clear "stop and call a pro" line
  • An honest DIY-vs-pro cost comparison

Some jobs are pro jobs — anything with gas, panel wiring, or water inside a wall. Post the job through WhatTheFix, the pro network inside ClickTheFix:

  • Posting is free for homeowners — you never pay the lead fee
  • Pros see the job and your area, never your contact details
  • The first pro to claim the job pays the lead fee and unlocks your contact info
  • You agree the scope and price with the pro directly, in writing

Fix a Leaking Pipe Under the Sink

A drip under the sink is usually a loose slip-joint nut or a worn washer — not a broken pipe. This guide walks you through finding the exact drip, tightening first, and replacing the trap washers the right way round.

Patch a Hole in Drywall

Doorknob holes and furniture dings look bad but fix cleanly with a mesh patch and thin coats of joint compound. Here is the full patch, sand, prime, and paint sequence that makes the repair disappear.

Pull a Small Dent Out of a Car Door

Fix a Toilet That Won't Stop Running

A toilet that runs on its own is almost always a rotten flapper or a tired fill valve — two cheap parts inside the tank. Start with the 15-minute food-coloring test so you replace the right one.

Clear a Slow or Clogged Drain

Most slow drains are a plug of hair, soap scum, and grease in the first few inches of pipe. Clear it mechanically — stopper, plunger, drain stick, then the trap — instead of pouring chemicals down it.

What the fee is — and isn't

The lead fee buys an introduction: the job details and the customer's contact information. It is not a guarantee the customer will hire you, and claiming a lead does not make you an employee, agent, or endorsed partner of ClickTheFix. You quote, contract, and get paid by the customer directly.

Homeowners are told the same thing from their side: a claimed job is not a vetting or a background check, and they should verify license and insurance before work starts.

Safety & responsibility

ClickTheFix gives you information, not a guarantee. Every diagnosis and guide here is AI-generated or general reference material. It can be wrong or incomplete, and it is not a substitute for a licensed professional's judgment, the manufacturer's instructions, or your local building codes. Read this before you start any repair.

If you do the work yourself

  • You choose whether to attempt a repair, and you do it entirely at your own risk.
  • ClickTheFix is not responsible if you or anyone else is injured, or if property is damaged, while following — or misfollowing — a guide.
  • Follow the safety warnings in every guide, wear proper protective gear, shut off power, water, or gas before you start, and get any permits your area requires.
  • Completing a step does not mean the work was done correctly or safely. If a step is beyond your skill, tools, or comfort, stop and hire a professional.
  • If a repair involves gas, the inside of an electrical panel, structural work, or vehicle brakes and steering, hire a licensed professional. When in doubt, stop.

If a contractor does the work

  • ClickTheFix does not provide repair services and does not employ, recommend, vet, license, insure, or endorse any contractor or tradesperson.
  • Any work a contractor does is an agreement between you and that contractor alone. ClickTheFix is not a party to it and cannot supervise or control how the work is done.
  • Pros who claim jobs through WhatTheFix pay ClickTheFix a lead fee ($35 per standard job, $55 for urgent or safety-hazard jobs). That fee buys the introduction only — it is not a background check, a license verification, or a guarantee, and ClickTheFix never takes a cut of what you pay the pro for the work itself.
  • Before hiring anyone, verify their license and insurance, check references, and get the scope and price in writing. The "hire a pro" prices shown in guides are rough estimates only, never quotes.
  • ClickTheFix does not guarantee or warranty any contractor's work and is not liable for their errors, omissions, poor workmanship, property damage, or injuries to you, your household, or anyone else.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, ClickTheFix and its operators are not liable for personal injury, death, property damage, or financial loss arising from repairs you attempt yourself or from work performed by any contractor you hire, even if a guide on this site contributed to the decision.
